The holiday season is in full swing at the Disneyland Resort! There is so much holiday magic to see and do. Therefore, today, I would like to share my Top 5 To-Dos During the Holidays at the Disneyland Resort. These are fun things that I have experienced and would like to share with you so that you and your family can experience them as well!
Top 5 To-Dos During the Holidays at the Disneyland Resort
There truly is something magical about visiting the Disneyland Resort during the holiday season. The decorations, music, food, smells, and merchandise! The Disneyland Resort has something for everyone. All over the entire Disneyland Resort! From the hotels, Downtown Disney and both parks as well. Let’s see what magical fun there is to experience during the holidays at the Disneyland Resort!
See It’s a Small World Light Up
First, is to see It’s a Small World light up for the night. This was such a fun experience! At 5:15 each night, it’s a small world gets all lit up! You will want to get there early. A lot of people will be standing all around waiting for this to happen. (We ended up on the side of the attraction on the way to Toontown.) However, it was a good view and when those lights come on… Not only seeing all the lights come on but also hearing everyone’s reactions is priceless! The gasps and the cheers. It was so much fun! I definitely recommend seeing this during the holidays at the Disneyland Resort.

Interact With the Magical Lights at the Disneyland Hotel
Second, on the list of to-dos during the holidays at the Disneyland Resort is to interact with the magical lights at the Disneyland Hotel. We had a wonderful Cast Member, (Shirley) take my Mom, Brother and I out front of the hotel and told us that the lights inside of the planters change colors when you hold them between your thumb and finger. She explained that Tinkerbell had come by and sprinkled them with Pixie Dust!
It was so much fun to test out multiple lights. If you have children in tow, or even if you don’t. (It’s Disneyland, go for it! We ALL do it.) Make sure to visit the Disneyland Hotel to play with the lights.

Check Out the Giant Gingerbread House at the Grand Californian Hotel
Third, on the list of to-dos during the holidays at the Disneyland Resort is to check out the gingerbread house at the Grand Californian Hotel. Each year the Disneyland Resort builds a giant, real gingerbread house. It is edible and has numerous hidden Mickeys all over it. It is a real treat to see this giant gingerbread house and to try and find the hidden Mickey’s.
Near the gingerbread house, Disney has a sign up that gives you details as to what and how many ingredients were used to make it, in addition to the number of hidden Mickeys that are on it. Check it out and see if you can find them all!
Watch the Fireworks in New Orleans Square at the Rivers of America
Fourth, on the list of to-dos during the holidays at the Disneyland Resort is to watch the fireworks show in New Orleans Square from the Rivers of America. We just happened to catch them from this spot by chance and loved it! As a result of not having the castle in the background for projections, Disney does the projection on the water screens that they use for Fantasmic. This way you still get to enjoy the projections, in a hopefully, less crowded area.
Also, don’t forget about the snow! Yes! It snows in Disneyland! Not only on Main Street, U.S.A. and at It’s a Small World, it also snows in New Orleans Square. The snow at the Disneyland Resort also has a smell. It smells like gingerbread! Therefore, this is one of my favorite to-dos during the holidays at the Disneyland Resort.
Look at the Car-tastic Decorations in Cars Land at California Adventure
Last but not least, is to look at all the decorations in Cars Land in California Adventure. The entire land gets into the holidays at the Disneyland Resort. All the decorations are made from car parts. For example, the garlands that are hanging across the road are made from air filters and tires.
One of the buildings has movie posters along the front that are spoofing actual Disney movies. With a Cars Land Spin on it. This entire lands theming is fun to check out even at a non-holiday time. However, it is a must on this list of to-dos during the holidays at the Disneyland Resort.
In addition to the decorations, make sure to check out the attractions during the holidays. Both Tow Maters and Luigis get a holiday makeover that is fun to experience.
