I feel like there are so many tips that can be given to you. Whether it will be your first visit or 100th to Disneyland. There can be things that you may not have heard of before that could help you out during your trip. Today I am going to share with you 10 Secret Disneyland Tips.

10 Secret Disneyland Tips

1. Download the Disneyland App

Before visiting the Disneyland Resort, Download the Disneyland App. This app provides a lot of information about the park. For example, ride wait times, FastPasses, character locations, maps and more!

For more about the Disneyland App. Check out Disneyland’s website here.

Hint: The Disneyland App is FREE! (Well, as long as your data plan covers the data and your not roaming etc.)

2. Go Early to the Parks.

The second tip on this list of secret Disneyland Tips is to go to the parks early! Don’t wait till later in the day, or think “I’ll wait till the initial crowd enters the park”. That would be a big mistake! Even if there are a lot of people waiting to enter the park, they have to disperse all over the park. This is a great time to ride as many rides as possible. The park gets busier as the day progresses. Therefore the lines get longer as the day progresses as well.

3. Bring Snacks and a Water Bottle.

Did you know that you can bring snacks? You can also bring in a water bottle or cup. (As long as it is not glass.) This way you can save some money on snacks and water. There are water fountains all over the Disneyland Resort that you can refill your bottle.

Hint: Forgot a bottle? When you grab some food order regular water. This way you get a cup and can refill it throughout the day.

4. Visit Fantasyland after Park Opening or After Fireworks.

Fantasyland is a popular land! The fourth tip on the list of secret Disneyland tips is to visit Fantasyland just after park opening or after the Fireworks show. This way you can get in line before it gets crazy long! The longest line in Fantasyland tends to be Peter Pan’s Flight. Therefore, get there first thing.

Hint: If you are planning on waiting until after the fireworks to visit Fantasyland, be aware that it takes a while before they will let you into the land. However, take the opportunity to photograph the castle without anyone on the bridge.

5. When in Line, Go Left.

Secret number five on the list of secret Disneyland Tips is to go to the left when attraction lines split. There have been studies that show most people will go to the right. Therefore, the next time you are in the parks choose the line on the left. This is especially true for Indiana Jones Adventure ride.

6. Go Inside the Tiki Room Waiting Area for a Dole Whip

Next on the list of secret Disneyland tips is to get a Dole Whip from the inside of the Tiki Room waiting area. This line is usually way shorter! In addition to the shorter line, you will feel more like you are in a tropical area. Due to the fact that you are surrounded by Hawaiian theming in the Tiki Room area.

Update: Disneyland has changed the inside line to be the pickup spot for the mobile orders. While this tip is no longer for a shorter line, in a way it still is. By ordering via the mobile order on the Disneyland app, you can walk up and pick up your order and still save time by not waiting in line!

Hint: Since you are in the Enchanted Tiki Room waiting area, why not see the show after you get your delicious Hawaiian treat! You are allowed to take your treat in as long as you take your trash out with you.

7. Use the Single Rider Line

If you don’t mind riding an attraction with strangers, use the single rider line whenever it is available. The line won’t be as long. However, do not do this as a group and then try to sit all together. It won’t happen!

8. Ask to Sit in the Front of the Monorail

Another tip on the list of secret Disneyland tips is to ask to sit in the front of the Monorail. This is the best way to ride the Monorail! You get a front view of the ride into or out of the park. In addition to being in air conditioning!

Sometimes it could be difficult to get in the front. You may even have to wait a while. It all depends. One thing that I try to do is ask every time I ride until I get to ride in the front. After that, I won’t ask because I want other families to be able to experience it.

9. Get in Line Before Park Closing Time

Next on the list of secret Disneyland tips is to get in line before park closing. The lines to the attractions stay open until the closing time. Therefore, if you get in line, even one minute before closing, you can still ride the attraction. This is a great trick! Especially for the attractions that have long lines. Also, sometimes the lines are shorter just before closing because most people will have already left for the night!

10. Shop After Park Closing

The final tip for the 10 Secret Disneyland Tips is to shop after the park closes. Main Street, U.S.A. shops stay open one hour after the park closes. This could be a great way to grab some last-minute souvenirs and not waste precious attraction riding time. However, be aware that the stores will be crowded! If crowds are not for you, I would recommend not shopping then.

Hint: If you want to avoid crowds while shopping, hit the stores first thing in the morning. Most people will be heading to the rope drop area and to the rides. Therefore it makes it a great time to shop peacefully.

Bonus Tip

If you don’t like crowds and you are at the park at or after park closing, a fun thing I like to do is to climb the steps up to the Disneyland Railroad on Main Street, U.S.A. and look down the street at Sleeping Beauty Castle. With all the lights on down Main Street, the castle all lit up, and being up where no one else is at (because they are all leaving or shopping) it is a peaceful way to end the day! Not to mention it is pretty all lit up! Then, after most everyone is gone, I go back down and leave with a handful of people. It is great!
