At Disneyland, there are so many attractions that can be experienced together with the entire family. Today I would like to focus on the top 10 attractions for kids of all ages. These are ones that I feel all kids can ride. There are more attractions that kids of any age can do, but I left out ones that some kids may get scared on. For example, Haunted Mansion, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, and Snow White’s Scary Adventures. Not all little ones may get scared on these (I grew up riding these myself) but, just in case I didn’t pick them for this post. Even though they are some of my favorite attractions!
Top 10 attractions for kids of all ages
1. It’s a Small World
This attraction is my first choice for my list of top 10 attractions for kids of all ages. It is a slow boat ride that takes you to all various places in the world. It shows all the different cultures while all the children sing along to the same song (in different languages) about universal harmony. The design of this attraction is amazing! With the colors, characters, and costumes! It has been a guest favorite since it opened in 1966.
2. Disneyland Railroad
This steam train almost circles the park. It takes you to Main Street USA, New Orleans Square, Mickey’s Toontown, and Tomorrowland. All along your trip, you see animals, cross a train trestle, and go back in time to the dinosaur era. It is a great train trip for the entire family. If you would like to find out more about these steam trains, you can find a recent post of mine here.
3. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
One of the many dark rides in Disneyland, Winnie the Pooh is a great ride for any age. You ride inside of a giant beehive that gently rocks you as you make your way through the Hundred Acre Woods. There are four adventures portrayed in this attraction. A Rainy Place, Heffalumps and Woozles, A Blustery Day in Hundred Acre Wood, and A Party for Pooh.
4. Storybook Land Canal Boats
This fourth attraction on the top 10 attractions for kids of all ages list, takes you on a guided motorboat cruise to see the miniature land of where the Disney characters live and work. The boat tour is slow. Therefore, it makes it a great attraction for the whole family. Plus, seeing all the details that went into this miniature land makes it entertaining for adults as well. I recently did a post on this attraction as well. It is called 5 Secrets of Storybook Land Canal Boats in Disneyland.
5. Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough
Discover and explore the story of Sleeping Beauty in this walkthrough attraction. Here you get to go inside the castle and see and hear the story come to life. This attraction is fun to check out. Be aware, however, there are stairs in this attraction. Therefore, if you are traveling with a disability or if you prefer not to do stairs, there is another option for you to be able to experience the attraction. Disneyland has a high def video version. Just ask a Cast Member and they will be able to help you out.
6. Disneyland Monorail
Transportation in the sky! The Disneyland Monorail goes along a single rail high above the ground. In addition to it being used to go to Downtown Disney, you can also ride it round trip and go back to Tomorrowland Station. Sometimes if you are the first to ask, you can get into the cockpit. It is a whole other experience to ride in the front compared to looking at everything from the side windows. Plus when you ride up front with the cast member, it can be a fun experience. Especially for the kids or kids at heart.
7. Peter Pan’s Flight
Take a flight above London and Neverland aboard a mini pirate ship. Peter Pan’s Flight is a dark ride that tells the story of Peter Pan. This one is great for the whole family as well.
8. Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room
This is one of my absolute favorite attractions at Disneyland. I grew up going here. It is a great show to take kids of all ages. There are lots of songs and sing-a-longs. The Tiki Room has audio-animatronic birds and flowers that sing. It is a fun show that you will find yourself singing along to and that the entire family will love. If you are interested in finding out more about this attraction, you can find it in this post titled Secrets of Disneyland’s Tiki Room.
9. Jungle Cruise
Here you take a boat cruise through the jungle with a skipper as your humorous guide. Along the way, you see elephants, tigers, lions, hippos and more. Your skipper tells jokes during your trip. This attraction is another good one for the whole family to enjoy. It has been entertaining guests since opening day in 1955.
10. Pirates of the Caribbean
The last attraction for the Top 10 Attractions for Kids of All Ages list is Pirates of the Caribbean. This is another favorite attraction of mine. Pirates of the Caribbean is a slow boat ride as well. Except for the two drops toward the beginning of the ride. They are fairly mild drops. The boats are the same style as It’s a Small World. The seats face forward with six rows in each boat. As a result of no lap bars on this attraction, you can hold onto your small children or have them sit in the middle of your party. A few scenes may frighten some little ones. From my experience, if you explain as you go, they usually handle it ok-ish the first time and a whole lot better the second time they ride.
IN CONCLUSION
I hope that you enjoyed the Top 10 Attractions for Kids of all Ages list. As a result of this post, I hope that this list helps you to know which attractions are best to start out with, with your little ones. In addition, I also hope this helps to show that no matter what age, that everyone can ride and experience the attractions together.
