“How many days should we go?” This is another question I get asked a lot! It is a little difficult to answer. Everyone is different. If it was me, I would be there 365 days each year! If only I lived close to the park. Sigh…

Park Passes

So to begin, let’s discuss the park pass options. Disneyland offers a single park pass and a park hopper pass. The single park pass means you can only enter one park per day. For instance, you are only at Disneyland for the day or you only visit California Adventure for the day. With a park hopper pass, you can enter both parks in one day. This means you can go to Disneyland, then leave and enter California Adventure for a while, and then you could go back to Disneyland if you wanted. All in one day! So if you wanted to go into Disneyland, grab a Dole Whip and a churro, Then ride Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mt., and Peter Pan. You could then leave Disneyland and head over to California Adventure and ride Cars Racers, Toy Story Mania and Little Mermaid. All in the same day!

How Many Days

Now with deciding how many days you should visit. For Veteran Disney goers, you could get away with doing one day per park. (Even though for me I think this option is inconceivable.) But, this is because they have been there so many times before they know what they would most prefer to see. They make sure to see that first. That way if they miss out on an attraction or show, it is something that is low on their priority list.

Even if you are a Disney Veteran, it would be near impossible to see and do everything in one day. I only say “near” in case there is someone out there during a slow day that is able to do it. But, even if they were able to do it, how enjoyable would that be to rush through everything?

I really enjoy taking my time in the parks. Especially at Disneyland. It has so much history. Not just the attractions and shows but, I really enjoy looking at all the details of the designs on the buildings. Each land is different too. From the floors to the ceilings. My favorite, I think, is New Orleans Square. Especially in Blue Bayou’s waiting area. It is so pretty.

Five Day Pass

If this is your first visit to the park I would recommend five days. There are multiple reasons as to why.

First Reason

The first one is there are so many things to see and do that it can feel a bit overwhelming at first. If you have multiple days you can take your time going through the parks. This is helpful if you are traveling with children or anyone with a disability. Plus after going through the park for the first time, by day two or three you will probably start to feel more relaxed and not so overwhelmed. Let’s face it. The park is huge.

Second Reason

Another reason to have multiple days at the parks is so that you can rest throughout the day. Or even take a trip back to the hotel in the afternoon for a  few hours. Both parks are approximately 155 acres. And this does not include Downtown Disney! That is a lot and I mean A LOT of walking. Even if you are used to walking daily, It can be hard on you and your family. Between the pavement and the standing. Having multiple-day passes can help you stretch out your trip so that you can have resting time and not miss out on anything.

My Personal Preference

Personally, I like going for five days (more if I could afford it). I really enjoy riding each attraction more than once per trip or even more than once per day. I love to start and end my day at Pirates of the Caribbean. It is one of my favorite attractions! There is so much to see on that attraction. You can even catch things you may have missed the first or even second time through.

In Conclusion

Regardless of how many days you decide to go, have fun! Take your time and go with the flow.
