Exploring Disneyland Hotel’s Fantasy Tower is a great way to take in Disneyland history. There is so much to see all over the Disneyland Hotel. Just when I think I have seen it all, I find new things to discover. Today I would like to share just some of what is in the Fantasy Tower to be discovered.

Exploring Disneyland Hotel’s Fantasy Tower

Whether you stay at the Disneyland hotel or not, you can visit the Hotel and the grounds and restaurants. There is so much Disney magic to be found here. I love walking all over the hotel and look at the paintings, pictures, and Disney memorabilia. Not to mention the hidden Mickey’s! Let’s take a look at what you can find in the Main Tower. The Fantasy Tower.

Main Lobby

The first place to visit when exploring Disneyland Hotel’s Fantasy Tower is the main lobby. It has changed through the years, however, it is still a fun place to check out.

They have seats that are huge teacups, cartoons playing on a television, and artwork by Mary Blair on the walls. (Mary Blair was an artist and designer that worked for Walt Disney.) If you time it just right, you could see Goofy or even Chip and Dale in the lobby!

Here is a book that talks about Mary Blair and everything she did while working for Walt Disney.

Shops

Next, when exploring Disneyland Hotel’s Fantasy Tower, make sure you check out the shops. The sundries shop is where you can get necessities like drinks, snacks, medicines, bathing suits and some Disney souvenirs too.

Another shop in the Fantasy Tower is the Fantasia Shop. This is a good-sized store that you can find a lot of different Disneyland items. In addition to Disneyland Hotel-specific souvenirs. A lot of times this shop is a lot less crowded than the ones in the park. It makes for a nice shopping experience.

Photos and Information at the Elevators

Third on the list for exploring Disneyland Hotel’s Fantasy Tower is the photos and information at the elevators. Just across from the elevator doors are lots of framed photos of celebrities and Presidents that visited Disneyland back in the day. Each photo has a nameplate giving information on who it is if you don’t already know, as well as some tidbits of information. This is a fun wall to check out.

Posters Across from the Bathrooms

Next on the list of exploring Disneyland Hotel’s Fantasy Tower, is the posters across from the bathroom entrance. There is a half wall that you walk behind to get to the entrance. As you walk by there are some attraction posters hanging on the wall. Similar to the posters that you see under the tunnels as you enter Disneyland.

Tip: Inside of the bathroom, (at least the woman’s) the wallpaper is a checkered print of the posters for Fantasy in Disneyland. This is only some of the fun theming that Disney has done.

FYI, the bathrooms in the Frontier Tower have the same style of wallpaper. Only with Frontierland posters.

If you would like to know more about the Disneyland posters, check out this book that talks about how they came to be, how they are made, as well as replica’s throughout the book.

Santa During the Holidays

Did you know that you can see Santa during the Holidays at the Disneyland Hotel? You can! Not only that, but most people don’t realize that. Which means little to no line to visit the big guy. Disney has a cute setup for him too. Including a photographer! If you are at the Disneyland Resort during this time, make sure you come by for a visit.

Disneyland Memorabilia

Next on the list for exploring Disneyland Hotel’s Fantasy Tower is the Disneyland Memorabilia. This is a HUGE shadow box of items from the park or items you could purchase way back when. This is a fun way to take in some Disney history. They have a lot of items in here. Board games, figures, books, a creepy mask… and even Walt Disney’s name tag.

Decades of Disneyland Hotel Photos

Another place on the list for exploring Disneyland Hotel’s Fantasy Tower is the Decades of Disneyland Hotel Photos. I wish that they had more of these. There are two sections. One is for the ’50s and ’60s, and the other is the 70’s and 80’s. It is a lot of fun to see how the hotel has changed over the years.

Photos and Information of Original Owners

Next on the list for exploring Disneyland Hotel’s Fantasy Tower is the photos and information of the original owners of the hotel. Disney did not build the original Disneyland Hotel. By the time Disneyland was built, there weren’t enough funds to build a hotel for people to stay. That is when Walt Disney started to seek out and find someone who was willing to fund the hotel. The Wrather’s were the ones who did just that. This spot at the hotel talks a little about the Wrather’s.

If you would like to know more about the history of the Disneyland hotel, here is a great book on how it got started. Complete with lots of photos.

Available on Kindle.

Hidden Mickey’s

Hidden Mickey’s are all over the Disneyland Resort! The Disneyland Hotel is included in this. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for them. Each time I visit I find more. It is so much fun to find them.

They can be on the carpets…

Wall Art Upstairs

Finally on the list of exploring Disneyland Hotel’s Fantasy Tower is the wall art that is upstairs above Goofy’s Kitchen and Steakhouse 55 restaurants.

There is a staircase that is in front of Goofy’s Kitchen check-in counter. You can get upstairs from there. Or there is an escalator on the other side of the room. From there, you can see all kinds of Disneyland art.

One of the many artwork pieces on display at the Disneyland Hotel.

I recommend setting aside some time to look at all these pieces. They are amazing!

One thing I want to point out, that it is not just the art up there. They have banquet rooms up there as well. Just be mindful of others if there are receptions or things going on at the time you are there.
