Dining Tips at the Golden Horseshoe in Disneyland. In addition to the atmosphere here, there is food, dessert, and a show to entertain you! Today I would like to discuss another dining location that is in my post Tips on dining in Disneyland on a Budget.

Dining Tips at the Golden Horseshoe in Disneyland

The Golden Horseshoe is another location where I love the decor and theme. It is located in Frontierland. For that reason, it has been designed to look like an old-time saloon from the 1800s. There is a stage on one end and balconies on both sides of the stage and on the second floor. There are tables and chairs both downstairs and upstairs that you can eat at. You can even sit and eat in the balconies!

Architecture

The Golden Horseshoe is another location I recommend looking around and up. Well, I recommend that for the whole park, but definitely, make sure you do it here. The woodwork in this building is pretty cool here. The chandeliers are styled after the 1850s. Longhorns are mounted on the walls and were hand-picked by Walt Disney. The inside of the Golden Horseshoe was designed by Harper Goff. He used the set design that he had made for the 1953 movie Calamity Jane starring Doris Day.

Food Options

This restaurant is a quick service. You walk up, (belly up to the bar), order and pick up your food at the same spot. Price-wise, it is in the category of 14.99 and under.

Some of their food options for this spot are chicken breast nuggets, and fish and chips. Both options come with either sliced apples or fries. The chicken breast nuggets are delicious! A couple of other options at the Golden Horseshoe are Chili in a bread bowl and a crispy chicken mixed green salad.

Dessert

Don’t forget a dessert here or have dessert as your meal if you like. How does a house-made chocolate-chunk cookie sundae sound? The Disneyland website describes it this way “a warm, rich Triple Chocolate-chunk Cookie made with Brown Butter, topped with hand-scooped Vanilla Ice Cream, and drizzled with Caramel and Chocolate Sauce.” Oh, my! If that sounds like too much dessert to handle, maybe try a float made with either Coca-Cola or Barq’s Root Beer.

The Golden Horseshoe also has a chocolate Coca-Cola Cherry Float that sounds good. Find out more here.

Entertainment

At certain times of the day, they will have live music with jokes and comedy skits. Sometimes it is fun to have some entertainment or a laugh or two while you eat. Just don’t choke.

When the Golden Horseshoe opened in 1955, it had a comedy/variety show complete with can-can dancers. It ran from 1955 to 1986. It was in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest-running musical. I miss this show to this day. It was full of comedy, music, singing, and dancing. Over the years they have tried to do a variation of the show and even tried to bring it back as a tribute for a short time in 2012.

Final Tip

One more thing I would like to point out about eating here is that it is indoors and it has air conditioning. Which is always a plus on a warm/hot day.

In Conclusion

I hope that you will check out The Golden Horseshoe when you visit the park and don’t forget to belly up to the bar. 😉
